The District Judge position being vacated by Judge Kramer’s retirement has traditionally handled all of the Shelby County Juvenile Court matters for over 40 years. I first became involved with the Shelby County Juvenile Court as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer under the guidance of Judge Patti Smith while in law school and I continue to work with CASA to this day in the training of new volunteers.
In the 25 years that I have worked in the Shelby County District Court under the guidance of Judge Smith and Judge Kramer, I have handled thousands of cases in all areas of the District Court. I have served as an attorney for Shelby County DHR, as an attorney for parents, custodians and petitioners in dependency cases, as a Guardian ad Litem for children, as an attorney for children in delinquency and truancy cases and as an attorney for parents in paternity and child support matters. Regardless of my position, I was always well-prepared for each case setting.
My combined experience in business management combined with my extensive experience in the Shelby County District Court has prepared me to be able to get to work on day one as a District Judge. One of my goals as a District Judge is to use my background and experience to improve the efficiency of the court process without sacrificing child safety and welfare!
